Gday there everyone its Kristy, Mummy said i can post here what i think about the fanclub stopping the posted Dzine

Heres my two cents worth

Sorry cant post anything in newspaper etc in sa for two cents.....

.......so for how much it does cost (hehe cant be bothered finding out)

I think its crap and they should pay for our colour ink to print it coz theres no point paying for a forum with a few pics(eg the magazine included)

Luv Kristy

Hey Kristy! *waves* It's lovely to see you on here.

As you've probably gathered, your opinion about this is pretty much shared by everyone on this board.

Btw - can you tell your Mum that her reply in the thread about this over on the Sony bbs was fab! I agree 100% with what she said.

I think this has been something that has been is discussion by the fan club for a long time and is perhaps an explanantion for us getting no mags for the past 6 months or so. Even though Tracey herself posted a sticky a short time ago saying there would ALWAYS be a D-zine even though it may sometimes be late. That sticky was done on Auggust6th and sorry but I think they had already made the decision then to stop the printed version and go online.

I wonder if the forum will become public.
The gossip on the FC board is that there will be 2 forums, one members and one public

Thank gawd for that! I don't think I could stomach sharing a bbs with certain sancitimonious, patronising and pompous members of the f/c! *shudders*

It's bad enough even when they make a rare appearance on the Sony board.

<font size="3" face="Tempus sans ITC, Papyrus,Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Well then................ I guess that I'll just say it.

That's wrong. You do NOT accept people's money knowing full well that the terms are about to change in fundemental ways. I don't give a hoot what the disclaimer says because all that means is that none of you can sue them or take legal action. This is more of a 'right/wrong' issue. One of fair play and honesty. If they knew this was coming, then they should have told people before accepting memberships. It's really as simple as that in my opinion. You don't take people's money letting them believe their going to get something that you know they won't.

Okay one more thing (and I'm sorry if this is harsh........ I haven't had my morning coffee yet lol) Have any of you ever received this or any other type of notice regarding the fan club through the regular mail? Like notices to renew, special events, anything other than your initial membership package and the zine? I haven't heard anyone ever say that they have. So here's my point.

If there was a large non-internet part of the fan club, then the fan club would have also been sending out mailings over the two years that they've been in business to also reach those fans. But they don't. Other than zines and the package of goodies you got when you joined, EVERYTHING else was conducted online and via email. Even this announcement that consists of a major change. That tells me that the zine membership is online and there aren't many (if any) who aren't.

One last point to consider, then I'll shut up. Publications are less expensive per copy the more you print. So if the fan base is huge, the cost of producing the zine becomes less. If the fan base is smaller, it becomes more expensive. Which is why I don't think any of us has ever seen a magazine say 'we're sorry, but our subscriber list is too large and we can't afford to print copies for everyone any longer.'

(and if anyone thinks that I take pleasure in saying this about Darren Hayes, you haven't a clue. I think this is sad for many, many reasons that I won't go into here.)

Dyan with reference to your last post, the only things I have ever recieved in the mail is my welcome packs, soundcheck pass and D-Zines.

IMO what they should have done was update their email that reminded you that your membership was due for renewal and added to it about the there would be changes in the upcoming year but NO, we were promised "new and exciting things" but not changes as massive as this. I say massive as IMO the mags were what the vast majority of what my membership fee paid for.
I too take no pleasure in making these complaints, it makes me sad, it truly does, as once upon a long ago, I loved being part of the fanclub. I thought I would again after I heard TTATS and could feel all the excitement building with the new material being released and tour dates being announced etc. Three days on I'm still incredibly pissed off about it, more so infact as the fan club must know how members are reacting and have made no effort to "calm the troops" for want of a better expression. It seems like they have dropped the bombshell then done a runner. Sorry but I see that as cowardly.

I'll always love the music, I'll always love visiting the boards and having a giggle and a goss with the others, I'll love the concerts and I'll ALWAYS be a fan but as for the fanclub, I guess I'm pretty much done with it. I'm not the sort of person who can see flowers and fairies in everything and just stand back and take something I don't like, I'm too much of an argumentative bitch for that lol.

It's a shame though, it really is

LOL Steen, I meant the darrenhayesmusic.com site

Oh and thank you so much! I have, however, accepted that in some ppls eyes I will always be a 'bad' fan because I cannot function in that bubble where everything DH is pure bliss and perfection and I do not toe the line with regards to the rules as I perceive them. I do believe though that I am an honest fan and that is easy to live with....Darren Hayes is certainly not my hero! He is a remarkable talent and that I do admire, I see him on tv doing interviews and I do really want to believe in him again.

As for the survey mentioned that ppl completed at the listening parties....they are such a small minority of the f/c I would have thought. I would like to have seen them provide a poll on thier site for the members to answer, simply yes or no, so those who lurk for fear of not being in the popular opinion would feel secure in answering too.

I'm desperately trying to remember that questionnaire thing we filled in at the LP's now. Most of it was questions like what is your favourite track from TTATS and music related questions. There was definitely a question relating to different tiers of fan club membership which I thought up to now related to these VIP packages. I don't recall anything about on-line only magazines. I wonder if they are considering offering a tiered form of membership and you pay accordingly for what you want?
